Obituary of William G. Stewart

Bedford William G. Bill Stewart, 67, of 740 Old State Road 37 North, Bedford, died suddenly at 9:50 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born October 22, 1935 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Gordon William and Ruth (Hillenburg) Stewart. He married Sue Ritchison on September 8, 1952 and she survives. He retired from Local #181 Operating Engineers Union and was formerly Superintendent of the Lawrence County Highway Dept. He presently served on the North Lawrence Water Corporation board and was the head usher at Gulletts Creek Baptist Church where he was a life-long member. Surviving with his wife, Sue, is his mother, Ruth; one son, Randy Stewart of Bedford; two daughters, Kim Ross of Denver, CO and Billie Landstrom of Needmore, IN; one sister, Bonnie Blackwell of Bedford; ten grandchildren, Amy Jo Birdsong, Natalie Cole, Nikki Childers, Amber Stillions, Josh Landstrom, Sunshine Landstrom, Tana Stewart, Chancey Stewart, Tyger Stewart and Zachary Landstrom and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Tom Stewart; two grandchildren, Misty Landstrom and Matthew Stewart. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 21st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Russ Sage and Pastor Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
