Dear Darlene and Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson (Parents of Jim):
This breaks my heart. Rebecca notified me today. Jim was such a good guy and great athlete....on my basketball, baseball, and football teams. And, oh,......Jim was good at all! Truth be told, if not for Jim's dad picking me up and taking me to practice...I could not have participated. I want his kids to know: Your Dad was a great, great person.....in not just my eyes, but all the kids at our high school loved and respected him. OK....Mike Cox and I probably spent more time with Jim than anyone....in Mike's driveway, playing basketball, roaming the woods, hunting, fishing, near Jim's parent's house. He was such a great, great guy! I feel so badly, not keeping up with Jim....my loss. Oh my gosh, I was SO lucky to have those high school years with Jim and be around Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson as well. I showed my letter jacket to my son Ryan......when I see the conference champs patches in baseball......that was all about Jim and his neighbor Mark Savell. Truth be told: Jim was just plain good....pitching him was an automatic "W". We just showed up.
Darlene, I extend my deepest sympathies to you. I also remember you as SUCH A VERY NICE PERSON.....I can only imagine what nice boys you and Jim have. PLEASE give my condolences to them as well. I just lost my mom less than a month ago.....but this has to be SO tough on Darlene, the 3 boys, and especially Jim's parents. My heart goes out to the family. Sincerely, Bob Byrd

Dear Dar,
We were so sorry to learn of Jim's passing. My first job out of high school was working for Jim at CrediThrift from 1980 to 1984. He was so funny and enjoyed practical jokes --- like putting a balloon in the bathroom that would pop if you opened the door (he stuck a pin on the wall). He had a great sense of humor! I remember you stopping by to see him and your boys were so small and cute! Please know that you and your family are being remembered in our prayers. May God Bless and Comfort You!

My dear sweet sister, my breaks for you. Jim is in a far better place and suffers no more, he is at peace. Jim was like a big brother to me. I will always cherish the summers I spent at your house and fun we had. Giving Jim plenty of ammo to make fun, but he never really needed any. He allowed your little sister to come and be a part of your lives without any questions. You were my safe haven when I needed one and to that I will always be grateful. You have three great boys and three wonderful grandchildren to carry on his legacy. Well done my good and faithful servant, with whom I'm well pleased.

Dear Darlene, Oh my heart grieves for you so....I can't imagine how you feel.....I wish I could be there for you tomorrow and to meet your children and grandchildren...what a legacy you and Jim have left! We haven't been in touch for many years...but we shared an important time of our lives...growing up as girlfriends in our little town....you are precious to me and I have such fond memories of us. I always thought you and Jim made a great pair and I'm sure if I was there to meet your children...that assumption would be solidified. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and may God comfort & bless you & your family...as only He can do.
Dear Cathy, You learned the heartbreak of losing a sibling, early on...with your sweet sister, Linda....and now, your big brother, Jim...I am so sorry....and wish I could be there to give you all a hug. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Stevenson, You have gone through something all parents dread....outliving 2 of your children...but you have taken your former sorrow and been there to uplift your family and live through extreme pain, as I can only imagine, you will do again...with your faith and trust in God....holding on to memories of two great and different kids...Linda and Jim...you've been a great testimony to the strength God can give in extreme circimstances.... to me and numerous people who have known you and your children....and I thank you for that example. May they rest in peace.

We are so sorry to hear the news. Jim was a wonderful person and a great athlete. My husband, Bob Coddington, remembers playing baseball against him and says he was a good pitcher.
