Obituary of Gary J. Stevens

Bedford-Pastor Gary J. Stevens, Sr. 63, of 525 S Street Bedford went home to the Lord at 12:30 pm on January 23, 2009. Born June 7, 1945 in Bedford, IN he was the son of Rev. Joseph and Helen (Mundy) Stevens. He married Beatrice Moore on January 6, 1963 and she survives. He was the Pastor of the Friendly Bible Church in Bedford. Many will remember him for his home ministry for those who could not get out. Gary retired from the City of Bedford Street Department after 34 years. Survivors include his wife Beatrice of Bedford; parents Rev. Joseph and Helen Stevens of Bedford; one daughter, Jamie Bechtel and her husband Jim of Bedford; two sons Jim Stevens and his wife Neena of Petersburg , IN, Brent Stevens of Bedford; two brothers Joe Stevens and wife Brenda of Bedford, Jerry Stevens and wife Ana of Bedford; two sisters Sharon Stevens Lyons and her husband Carl of Bedford, Linda Stevens Jenkins and her husband Tom of Bedford; 10 grandchildren Travis Bauer, Brice Templeton, Joshua Stevens all of Bedford, Tabitha Landstrom-Berger of Ohio, Zachary and Dustin Stevens of Bloomfield, Gavin Daniel, Jared Vance, Avery Stevens, and Riley Stevens all of Bedford; five great grandchildren Aliza and Haden Templeton, Matthew and Estella Stevens, Peyton Bauer, Hunter Berger; two brothers in law Chester Moore and his wife Tamera of Bedford, Wayne Cain of Ottawa,IL; two aunts Maxine Holsapple and Mary Stevens both of Bedford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son in law Debra Stevens Landstrom and Tab Landstrom, one granddaughter Stephani Brooke Bauer, and one nephew Jerry Stevens, Jr. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Michael Holsapple officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 31st in the Judah Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27th and from 10:00 until the hour of service on Wednesday, January 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. View Video Tribute
