Obituary of D. Steve Stailey

Anderson D. Steve Stailey, 77, of 4921 Plantation Street, Anderson, IN, formerly of Bedford, died at 6:50 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his residence. Born June 4, 1923 in Bedford, he was the son of Eli Blaine and Bellzora (Gibson) Stailey. He married Lorna Mae Roberts on June 4, 1942 and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2006. He was employed at General Motors in the melting department and was an avid fisherman. He was well known for building dog houses. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Everitt and husband, Orin of Anderson, IN; one son, Terry Stailey and wife, Diane of Pendleton, IN; five grandchildren, Marianne Scott and husband, Emmett, Steven Arena, Tony Arena, Kim Leahy and husband, John, Mike Stailey and wife, Linda; eight great grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Scott, Joseph and Addison Arena, Matthew and Sarah Leahy, Kiersten and Ryan Stailey; eighteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Jesse, Everett and Arvin Stailey; six sisters, Goldie Stailey, Edna Perry, Thelma Stailey, Audrey Colvin, Ruby Adams and Eva Moore. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, March 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Jim McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 20th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, March 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
