Obituary of John R. Spears

Oolitic - John R. Bud Spears, 84, died at 5:03 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at his residence. Born July 2, 1925 in Oolitic, IN he was the son of Thomas and Clara (Brown) Spears. He married Jewel Patton on December 6, 1947 and she survives. He was a retired draftsman from Indiana Limestone and Indiana Steel. He was a member of Oolitic Baptist Church, Kiwanis Club, a Charter Member of the Oolitic VFW and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Jewel of Oolitic, one son, Johnny Spears of Oolitic, one daughter, Kathy Spears and her companion, Clay Carlisle of Oolitic, two grandchildren, Tyler Collins of Oolitic, Alyssa Jade Spears of Bedford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clyde Spears. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 9th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.
