Obituary of V. William Bailey

Heltonville V. William Bill Bailey, 95, of Heltonville, died at 10:55 am on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital.Born December 22, 1912 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of James A. and Mamie (Meadows) Bailey. Bill was a graduate of Heltonville High School in the class of 1930. He was self-employed as a farmer, carpenter and timberer retiring in 1974. He married Gladys A. Whitted in 1935 and she died November 16, 2001.Survivors include six daughters, Verla Norman and her husband, Donald of Brownstown, Marilyn Grissom of Ft. Myers, FL, Marian Bartlett and her husband, Joe of Bedford, Ingrid Ratcliff-Hornback and her husband, Arvel of Greenwood, Rita Gray and her husband, Raymond of Vallonia, Shana Hobson and her husband, Mike of Bedford; one son, Duane Bailey and his wife, Dana of Bedford; one brother, Jesse Bailey and his wife, Louise of Heltonville; 1 brother-in-law, Gerald Whitted and his wife, Marjorie of Heltonville; twenty-five grandchildren; fourty-four great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys, three brothers, two sisters, five sons, Carl, Roger, Lester, Dennis and Ronnie who was stillborn. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9th at Mundell Church with Tracy Bailey, John Wisley and Bro. Walter Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mundell Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday Jaunary 9th at the Mundell Church.
