Obituary of Helen Sowders
Grapevine, TX Helen Sowders, 78, of 951 Easy Street, Grapevine, TX, formerly of the Guthrie Community in Lawrence County, IN, died at 2:10 pm on Friday, July 4, 2003 at the Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine, TX.
Born June 7, 1925 in the Guthrie Community, she was the daughter of Raymond and Leatha (Quillen) Hawkins. She married Harold Wayne Sowders on May 8, 1946 and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church in Avoca. She attended the Colleyville First Assembly of God in Colleyville, TX.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Wilson and her husband, Steve of Grapevine, TX and Becky Hargis and her husband, Ed of Heltonville; six grandchildren, Cindy Hart, Christy Bowman, Chad Wilson, Christina Harden, David Hargis and Daniel Hargis; nine great grandchildren, Dustin Bowman, Lauren & Lindsay Hart, Steffinee Wilson, Christony, Whitney & Ashley Harden, Christopher & Eli Hargis; one great great granddaughter, Madison Harden; one sister, Elsie Clampitt of Indianapolis; one brother, Charles Ansel Hawkins of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, James Loyd, Joseph Kelsey, William Richard (Bill) and Morris Eugene Hawkins. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 10th at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church in Avoca with Rev. David Brock and Rev. Steve Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church.
