Obituary of Lowell K. Southern
Bedford Lowell K. Southern, 71, of 1496 Leatherwood Road, Bedford, died at 5:42 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at his business, S & S Auto Sales in Bedford.
Born December 4, 1933 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Edgar and Cloie (Turner) Southern. He married Josephine Ramsay on July 6, 1956 and she survives. He was a life-long automobile dealer and enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid I.U. basketball fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Philippines where he was a member of the Navys pro basketball team.
Surviving with his wife, Josephine is one son, Colby Southern and his wife, Carol of Springville; two daughters, Tami Sargent and Lisa Cummings and her husband, Tim all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Jason Henson and his wife, Shannon, Mindy Warren and her husband, Robbie, Corey Southern and his fiance Audrey Bond, Shane Sargent, Matthew Southern, Colson and Clayton Cummings; one great grandson, Garrett Eli Henson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Audrey Southern and Jessie Covey and two brothers, Richard and Norman Southern. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 13th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry and Pastor Wes Rainey officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, December 12th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
