Obituary of Edna Marie Smither
Bedford Edna Marie Smither, 95, passed away at 1:45 am on Friday, May 06, 2011, at Johnson Christian Village.
Born November 5, 1915 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Samuel and Olivia (Davis) Canada. She married Paul Louis Smither on June 13, 1933. They were married for almost fifty-four years and were lifelong residents of the area except for a year in Florida and two years in Kentucky. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1987. They owned and operated Smithers Plumbing and Heating in Bedford and attended Calvary Chapel Church.
Edna was a loving wife and mother. She was a woman of character, hard working, self-disciplined and an avid reader, especially of the Bible.
Edna is survived by two daughters, Judith Jordan of Bedford and Mrs. Michael (Marilyn) Jackson of Janesville, WI; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one sister, Maxine Flynn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul; a daughter, Shirley Dowling; a son, Gene Smither; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four brothers, Clifford, William, Russell and David Canada; two sisters, Frances Brewington and Mary Jane Hasler. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jim McDowell and Rev. Michael Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, May 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
