Obituary of James G. Smith

Bedford James G. Smith, 84, of 1615 1st Street, Bedford, died at 3:12 am on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Stonebridge Health Campus. Born June 12, 1925 in Bedford, he was the son of Fred L. and Della (Pruett) Smith. He married Emma Mae Fields on July 4, 1950 and she preceded him in death. He was retired from Central Foundry in Bedford. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion, Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, U.A.W. Local #440 and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include a daughter, Susan S. Smith of Bedford and a brother, Jerry Lee Smith of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Phyllis Robertson. Funeral Information Private services are planned with burial in the Green Hill Cemetery. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
