Obituary of Harold Eugene Smale

Bedford Harold Eugene Gene Smale, 85, of Bedford, died at 8:03 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his residence. Born June 30, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Fred Jacob and Dorothy (Blackwell) Smale. He married Mary D. Morgan on June 25, 1950 and she died August 7, 2012. He retired as a route salesman for the Nabisco Co. in 1988 after thirty-three years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II and a member of the Bartlettsville Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Rick W. Smale and wife, Cindy, James D. Smale and wife, Angie and David Allen Smale all of Bedford; a daughter, Terri Lynn Padget and husband, John of Loogootee; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Walter Smale and daughter-in-law, Belinda Smale. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jim Cain, the Pastor of the South Union Christian Church in Bloomington officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
