Obituary of James E. Holtsclaw
BedfordJames E. Holtsclaw, 81, of 526 Rawlins Road, Bedford, died at 1:19 P.M. Friday in his home following a 2 year illness.
Born May 7, 1922 he was the son of Robert and Orzella (Rodgers) Holtsclaw. He married Sylvia Irene Kirby on July 25, 1942 and she preceded him in death. He worked for Indiana Limestone Company and Independent Limestone Company where he retired from in 1984. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 9th Air Force in England, France, Belgium and Germany as an Aircraft Armorer during WW II. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #1686 and a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club.
He is survived by one daughter: Anita (Holtsclaw) Lee and husband, Larry of Oolitic; two sons: Jimmie Holtsclaw and wife, Pat of Stafford, VA; Donnie Holtsclaw and wife, Sharon of Evansville, IN; four grandchildren: Lori (Lee) Staley; Kortni Lee; Tiffany Lee and Jay Holtsclaw; two great grandsons: Kyler and Kooper Staley; two brothers: Jerry Holtsclaw of Oolitic, and Lexie Holtsclaw of Bedford; one sister: Dorothy Armstrong of Oolitic. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Mary Jane Price; two: brothers: Ernie Holtsclaw; Robert Holtsclaw Jr. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 20th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Stephen Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
