Obituary of Gertrude Silvers

BedfordGertrude Gertie Silvers, 85, of 2769 Eastern Avenue, passed away at 9:22 A.M. Tuesday, November 2nd at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born in Lawrence County, IN on September 4, 1919, she was the daughter of Winfred Gilstrap and Hazel (Hook) Gilstrap. She was a nurse retiring after thirty years from Dunn Memorial Hospital. A fifty three year member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford, she was also a member of the AARP. She married Earl Silvers on June 29, 1946 and he survives. Surviving in addition to her husband, Earl of Bedford is three brothers: Luther Kenneth Gilstrap and his wife, Mary of Bedford; William C. Gilstrap and his wife, Norma of Bedford and Leland Winfred Jr. Gilstrap and his wife, Louise of Atlanta, GA; seven nieces, five nephews, several great and great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Verl Gilstrap. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 5th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Day & Carter on Thursday, November 4th from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
