Obituary of Earl T. Silvers

Bedford Earl T. Silvers, 93, passed from this life to his eternal rest at Garden Villa on Thursday, June 9, 2011. He was born in Tatesville, Kentucky, the son of Paris Sildon and Florence Etta (Lewis) Silvers. He had brothers, Verdell, Otho and sisters, Geneva, Gladys and Delores Grace all of whom preceded him in death. He first married Ellen Gertrude (Gertie) Gilstrap and she preceded him in death in November 2004. He then married Eva F. (Tidd) Gould on November 15, 2008 and she survives. An Army veteran of WW II with the 10th Infantry Division, he served in many major campaigns including such famous ones as the Battle of the Bulge. He often quipped that he had walked all over Europe in his six years in the service of our nation. A General Motors retiree in October 1978, he enjoyed many hobbies over the years including traveling, fishing, and playing the guitar as well as other musical instruments. He enjoyed hours of card playing and board games. He was a 91 year member of his beloved First Baptist Church, and one of the congregations most senior members. Earl loved his family dearly and was fondly referred to as Uncle Earl by his many nieces and nephews over the generations. He is survived by his wife, step-daughter, Brenda K. Fiddler (Edward), and grandchildren, Staci hearth (Brad), and Lisa Fiddler-Moynihan (Mike); four great grandchildren, Brittany, Heather, Amanda and B.J.; a brother-in-law, David Tidd (Janet); a sister-in-law, Virginia Wallace and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary with visitation from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 12th at the mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, June 13th at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
