Obituary of Kathryn Ingle Sallee

Bedford Kathryn Ingle Sallee, 83, of Bedford, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Decatur Township Health and Rehab. Center in Indianapolis. She was married to Jackie D. Sallee who preceded her in death. To this union a son was born, Gary Dale Sallee of Indianapolis and two blessed grandsons, Benjamin Sallee and Patrick Sallee both of Indianapolis. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many good friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Richard Ingle and three sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Rowena) Flinn, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Williams and Mrs. William (Mary Jane) Kirkman and her parents. Kathryn was Lawrence Countys first female paper carrier, starting in 1939. After graduation from Tunnelton High School, she was employed by Reliance Manufacturing Company for eight years. She later was employed by Philco for four years, then was employed by North Lawrence Community Schools for eight years. She was employed by Bedford Medical Center where she retired on July 13, 1990 after twenty years of service. She was the Supervisor/Department Head of Central Supply at Bedford Medical Center from 1970 1990. She was certified with the International Association of Hospital Central Supply Managers. She was a member of the American Society of the American Central Supply Personnel and a member of the Hospital Christian Fellowship Association. While at BMC, she was active in many committees, which included 7 years on the American Red Cross Board. She was, at one time, Disaster Chairman for the Lawrence County Red Cross. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford and former member of the White River Baptist Church. While at White River Baptist Church, she sang in a Christian quartet for 27 years. Kathryn enjoyed working with the Pastors Helpers at the First Baptist Church, visiting the sick and elderly of the church. She was a former member of the Lawrence County Art Association and the Bedford Little Theatre. She and her husband, Jackie worked thirteen years with the Bedford North Lawrence Booster Club. Funeral Information Celebration services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30th at the First Baptist Church in Bedford with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Church Cemetery in Buddha, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
