Obituary of Walter E. Russell
Bedford Walter E. Russ Russell, 92, a long time resident of Lawrence Co., IN, passed away at 3:20 am on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born March 9, 1915 in Princeton, IN, he was the son of Bud and Martha (Powell) Russell. He married Wilma M. Block on June 2, 1935 and she survives. He was an electrician with NWSC CRANE retiring after thirty-two years in 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1934 to 1940. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945 during WW II in the S. Pacific. He was affiliated with the First Christian Church in Bedford.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Bedford; one son, Bob Russell and his wife, Leona of Mitchell; one daughter, Joann Teresi and her husband, Jim of Deerfield Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Terri Stump and her husband, John of Warsaw, IN, Rev. Kevin Phipps and his wife, Penny of Wooster, OH, Jeff Phipps of Columbus, OH; five great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Russell; five sisters, Daisy French, Mary Wilson, Alice Schmidt, Jeanne Puumala and Dorothy Fulton. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 28th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday, August 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
