Obituary of Lowell E. Roberts
Bedford Lowell E. Shorty Roberts, 77, of 534 Southridge Drive, Bedford, IN, died at 7:05 am on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at his residence.
Born January 26, 1926 in Silverville, IN, he was the son of Lowell Forrest and Dorothy May (Reuter) Roberts. He married Marilou Kay Schomacker on November 23, 1960 and she survives. He was employed by Public Service Indiana and later was employed at NWSC Crane as a substation electrician. He was a member of the Silverville Baptist Church, American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford, VFW Post #9107 of Mitchell and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy.
Surviving with his wife, Marilou, are two daughters, Bridget Auvenshine of Tucson, AZ and Teresa Roberts of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Jason and Nathan Auvenshine both of Arizona and Ashley Hughes of Mitchell; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter; three sisters, Betty Lotich of Richmond, IN, Elain Farley and Sam McBride both of New Castle, IN; five aunts, Gladys Rush, Olive Roberts, Gale Bex, Lelia Colglazier and Hannah Wagoner. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Doris Wilking. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 5th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Paul Neuman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
