Obituary of Charles Bernard Kirkman

Bedford Bernard Kirkman, 79, of Bedford, died suddenly at 3:19 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born August 28, 1925 in Bedford, he was the son of Carl and Viola (Patton) Kirkman. He married Betty Louise Hawkins on March 25, 1945 and she survives. He was retired from General Motors in Bedford and had been a carpenter for many years. He attended the Oolitic Baptist Church and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving, with his wife, Betty, are two sons, Timothy Kirkman; Danny and Vickie Kirkman; two daughters, Susan Kirkman; Sally and Brad Waggoner, thirteen grandchildren, Rochelle, Jody, Jackie, Viola, Amanda, Audra, Anna, Jessica, Kyle, Kelly, Shawn, Shane and Shannon; nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Cox. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 2nd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman and Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 1st and from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
